Fatal Traffic Collision
On Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at approximately 10:04 AM, Fullerton Police Officers responded to the area of Magnolia Ave and Valencia Drive regarding a traffic collision involving multiple vehicles, with reports of a vehicle having flipped over in the intersection.
Upon arrival, officers located four vehicles with significant damage in the intersection. A 2005 white Toyota Corolla, driven by a 21-year-old female, was located in the southwest portion of the intersection. The female driver, and her 18-year-old female passenger, were trapped inside the vehicle. Fullerton Fire responded, extracted them from the vehicle, and immediately began life-saving measures. Both the driver and passenger were immediately transported to a local trauma center with critical injuries. Sadly, the 21-year-old female driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The identity of the deceased driver will be released by the Orange County Coroner.
A 2006 silver Nissan Altima, driven by a 57-year-old male, was located just west of the Toyota Corolla. A 2005 black Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 36-year-old male, was located upside down in the middle of the intersection. A 2010 silver Ford Edge, driven by 50-year-old male, was located just north of the Chevrolet Silverado in the intersection. The drivers of the Chevrolet Silverado and the Ford Edge were both also transported to a local trauma center with critical injuries.
Initial investigation revealed that the black Chevrolet Silverado was driving erratically northbound on Magnolia Ave approaching Valencia Dr when it veered into southbound lanes of on-coming traffic and collided with the white Toyota Corolla, which was travelling southbound on Magnolia Ave through the intersection. The force of the collision caused the Chevrolet Silverado to flip, striking the Ford Edge that was also travelling southbound on Magnolia Ave. The Toyota Corolla spun and struck the Nissan Altima.
Investigators are working to determine if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.
This is an on-going investigation and the exact cause of the collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this collision is encouraged to contact Accident Investigator H.
