***UPDATED INFORMATION*** During the course of our investigation, investigators have received information from several witnesses stating there was possibly an eyewitness to the collision who was driving a red vehicle similar to an Acura Integra, or possibly a Honda Accord. This witness was seen leaving the scene prior to police arrival. Investigators believe this witness has vital information regarding the cause of this collision. We are asking this witness, or anyone knowing this witness, to contact the Fullerton Police Department Traffic Bureau at (714) 738-5313 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.

On July 15, 2016 at approximately 7:16 AM, officers responded to the intersection of Gilbert Street and Hughes Drive regarding a single vehicle traffic collision. Callers indicated that the vehicle had struck a traffic light pole.

Officers arrived on scene and found a 22-year-old female passenger with moderate injuries, and a 26-year-old male driver who was trapped inside the vehicle. Fullerton Fire Department responded and they extricated driver. The driver was transported to UCI Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification from the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
