Pedestrian struck by vehicle and killed

On Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at approximately 8:06 PM, Fullerton Police Officers responded to the 400 block of W. Orangethorpe Ave regarding reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located an unidentified male, who appeared to be in his 50’s, with significant, life-threatening injuries lying in the number 1 lane of eastbound traffic in the 400 block of W Orangethorpe Ave. Fullerton Fire responded and immediately began providing life-saving... measures to the male. He was transported to a local trauma center where, sadly, he was pronounced deceased shortly upon arrival.

Preliminary investigation reveals that a 2002 Buick LeSabre, driven by a 74-year-old female, was travelling eastbound on Orangethorpe Ave near Ray when it struck the unidentified male pedestrian who was crossing southbound across W. Orangethorpe Ave. The male pedestrian was not crossing in a crosswalk at the time he was struck.

The identity of the deceased male pedestrian will be released by the Orange County Coroner upon notification of next of kin.

The 74-year-old driver remained at the scene and she is cooperating with Investigators. At this time, it does not appear that alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.
