Social Media School Threat - Troy High School

Last night at approximately 10:00 PM, the Fullerton Police Department was contacted by a Troy High School student regarding a possible threat made to the school via Instagram Live. The student indicated that they were on a “group chat” with a number of other students when an unknown user began messaging the group, indicating that there would be violence against the school the following day, today February 1st, 2018.

Fullerton Police School Resource Officers, in conjunction wi...th the Fullerton Joint Union High School District, have been working diligently to vet the veracity of the threats and to identify those responsible for making them.

At this point in the investigation, School Resource Officers have found nothing to corroborate the threats as being credible. That said, the Fullerton Police Department and the Fullerton Joint Union High School District take any threat against the school seriously and the investigation is on-going.

This information was brought forward by a courageous student who knew that what they were reading on the posts was not only inappropriate, but dangerous. FPD reminds you that “if you see something, say something”. We are all responsible for keeping our community safe.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Fullerton Police School Resource Officer A. Coyle at (714) 738-3156. Those wishing to provide information anonymously can call the Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1(855) TIP-OCCS or can visit their website at www.p3tips.com/913.
