FPD Arrests Suspect in Attempt Murder and DUI

On Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at approximately 12:09 AM, Fullerton Police Officers responded to the area of Raymond and Ash regarding a call of two male pedestrians being struck by a vehicle. Further reports from callers indicated that the vehicle, a black pickup truck, fled the scene southbound on Raymond and was last seen entering the 91 freeway.

Upon arrival, officers were able to determine, based on witness statements and further investigation, that the incident began at a... nearby night club as a disturbance involving four males. The males exited the club and the altercation continued into the street and the sidewalk in front of the location. One of the males involved in the altercation got into a black pickup truck and he began driving the truck onto the sidewalk. He appeared to intentionally strike the two males that were standing on the sidewalk. The pickup truck then fled the scene.

The two male adult victims were immediately transported to a local trauma center with serious injuries.

Approximately an hour later, FPD Officers still on scene investigating the incident observed a black pickup truck, matching the suspect vehicle description, drive by the scene. The black pickup truck was stopped by officers and after further investigation, the driver, Humberto Hernandez-Lopez (31 years old from Fullerton), was positively identified as the suspect driver of the vehicle at the time it appeared to intentionally strike the victims on the sidewalk. Hernandez Lopez was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted murder and DUI.
